THE STRANGER TALKS TO MANKIND 
(Den fremmede taler til mennesket) 

I´m dressing me in you like in a dress 
of night-blue earth and dawn-soft thoughts, 
when I was hung at the trees´ rough planks 
in your body at the place of the skull. 

I climbed down here as an underwater-tree, 
from roe and melk given by trout-banks, 
with mature fruits on branches full to overflowing, 
and light-blue eggs in chaffinchnests on the treetop. 

Every bird which froze to death in cold nights; 
I gave new life in the forrests of the mind, 
and a nesting-place in the net of the muscular system. 

Like heavens´ kingdom dies in the shining of the senses, 
from the snowfields to the rosettes of the plants, 
the earth-kingdom is born again here inside.
